Caroline Romer was
born in 1955 in Hertfordshire in England.
She grew up in
a family of artists, her mother Philippa
Romer and her grandmother Hilda Tomson
being both portrait painters. The studio atmosphere and
the smell of turps were never far away.
Between 1974 and
1978 she studied painting at the Byam
Shaw School of Art in London.
In the summer of 1974
she made her first journey to India,
and in 1975 to Morocco.
These journeys opened-up a life-long interest in combining
her painting with travelling.In 1979
she married and went to live in the heart of the Spanish
Pyrenees where she still lives. The mountains
and their people have been a strong source of inspiration
to her work and contain to be so.
Caroline is a
passionate student of landscape and the human figure within
it.
